Strikers on the Net
Hope Creek, 10 July 2000 - Mayor Jackie Strike put her own stamp on the annual Strikers on the Net
Convention.
She called for a soft tone in Strikeland. Strikers working on the party's platform said there is
much more that unites than divides them, though there is still disagreement on some issues.
Former HQ Junior Assistant Janitor Dewey Cooper appeared onstage during a tribute to former Jackie
Strike HQ Junior Assistant Janitors, but he was not scheduled to give a speech. Cooper had slicked-back
hair, carried a cell phone the size of a pocket comb, and spoke to us backstage in sonorous and quotable
sound bites.
"Whistles and bells do not make a great Web site, particularly in politics. You need to
communicate a message to voters, and whistles and bells get in the way." And on candidates
who fail to "get" the Web: "You either change or you end up as roadkill. I think a
lot of politicians are going to end up as roadkill."
Jackie for President ltd Campaign Manager Howard W. Campbell Jr.,
the bespecteled Chairman of the
Global Subcommittee Jacky Ickx, and Strike's husband Geoffrey Braker, were among the prime-time
speakers. Privatier Sonny Malone also spoke during prime time.
